As a member of the Church of Scotland, I feel ashamed of the decision the Assembly has made which allowing ministers to bless the gay couples. Even though some people would think this result is expected and reasonable, I personally have found this is absolutely non-sense and unbiblical. Perhaps some of them think it is better than passed through in the Church as a whole, because it still needs to be voted in every presbytery. What a shame!
In that debate, I heard one fellow was so-called "minister" saying the church needed to pass this issue in which we need to change things from time to time, as it's like in the N.T. church forbids circumcision. I have no idea of what that man was talking about! I wonder how many years he has spent in theological seminaries, and what a waste of time!
Also, the convener has said this issue does not require any theological consultation in order to have the decision, and the consequences will not be as bad as the "evangelicals" have predicted. I wonder if she were in the O.T. time, she probably needs to be stoned because of lying to the people of Christ, and untrueful to the Word of God.
They have indeed never considered the Church of Scotland is like the oldest sister of the Presbyterian Church. In fact, they have no idea why John Knox had to lead the Scottish churches out of the papist control.
Apparently, it was the first time I went to the New College! As the result was given, I went out of the assembly and saw the statue of John Knox holding the Bible to preach. This huge contrast had brought me to the highest point of grief and sadness. John Knox definitely wouldn't have thought of one day the Church would have a day like this, sigh!
However, because of my Presbyterian beliefs, I trust in the Lord Jesus Christ that His sovereignty is still ruling over the heaven and the earth, everything is under His authority. For us, what we need to do is to pray and to be strengthened to stand for the Word of God.
