Different Cultures within the Church

As time goes by, I’ve found Christian have different “cultures” or practices, even, with in the same congregation. They certainly don’t appear only in different denominations.
Highland evangelical culture is so different from that of the Lowlands, in many ways. It sometimes creates difficulties that I might not be able to speak of certain things because they might offence someone. For example, I was so quiet the whole time when I was at a member’s house for lunch because of the topics they had for discussion. Although they were all about the church, I knew if I commented on any of them it would be a disaster. Therefore the only way for me to do is to keep my mouth shut. However, someone came up to me, after the evening service, apologising to me because she thought I showed no interest in most of the conversations (or didn’t understand). It was eventually clarified after a wee explanation.
Having said all these, this kind of things has, somehow, strengthened my vision of being a minister in the Highlands or in the Western Isles (if I learn Gaelic quick enough, haha!)
But the most fundamental thing is that we should stress what we have in common, not our differences, for we are saved by the same Lord, believing in the same Gospel. Indeed, learning how to control our tongues is one of the most difficult things to do.
The historic Faith and Scottish Presbyterianism need to be safeguarded in the CofS!
Pray that the Lord will bless and revive our land!
Blessings,
Robin
(Sometimes I wonder where I was born, lol)
